Supermicro Server Disk Formatting Guide
Step 1: Enter BIOS
Reboot the server.
While the system is booting, press the "Delete" key to enter the BIOS settings.
Step 2: Go to the "Advanced" tab
After logging into the BIOS, click on the "Advanced" tab.
Select the "RAID Configuration" option
Step 3: Access disc management.
From the "RAID Configuration" menu, select "View Server Profile".
Locate and select "Drive Management".
Mark the discs you want to format.
Step 4: Putting the disc in the "Offline" state
Press "Operation".
Select "Place Drive Offline".
Confirm the operation if required.
Step 5: Reboot the server
Exit the BIOS and reboot the server.
Step 6: Re-enter BIOS
During the reboot, press the "Delete" key again to enter the BIOS.
Return to "RAID Configuration".
Select "View Server Profile".
Step 7: Managing virtual disks
Open the "Virtual Drive Management" item.
Select the disc that you previously put offline.
Step 8: Perform virtual disc cleanup
Press "Operation".
Select "Virtual Drive Erase".
Confirm the operation if required.
Step 9: Reboot the server
Exit the BIOS and reboot the server again.
Step 10: Checking the status of the disc
Verify that the drives no longer appear in the RAID configuration.
This confirms that the discs have been successfully cleaned.
Step 11: Exit BIOS
Save your changes and exit the BIOS settings.
